DAVID TENNANT on 'Songlines'

Here is an edited version of the Radio Scotland show Songlines which this week looked at I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by THE PROCLAIMERS. It was first broadcast on 16 June, 2008. The audio included below includes the segments of the show featuring DAVID TENNANT. He does mention DOCTOR WHO a couple of occasions.

Thanks for that! That was fun to listen to.

There's a little typo in your post though. There's an extra 9 in the song's title.

You shame BLOGTOR and his ability to hit the shift key properly.

Thanks for the heads~up though!

I gotta say...before DT started evangelizing The Proclaimers every chance he gets, I honestly considered them a one-hit wonder.

Hearing a whole half-hour dedicated to them, and their clearly impassioned supporters, makes me sad that they weren't bigger in the States.

Thanks for posting the clip!

To be honest, they were seen as a novelty act/one~hit wonder in the UK for many years (and I think some people do still think they are).

They've really only had two hit singles in over twenty years. I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) was not a big hit (reached no. 11) when first released in '88 but finally cracked the Top Ten and hit the number one spot last year.

And that's because it was tied in with 'Comic Relief'.

People know them over here but they're not 'big'.
