The results are now in for
The Blogtor Who Readers' Poll 2011 - many thanks to everyone who voted. Before we get to the Ten, here's some info about the stories that didn't make it. Unsurprisingly, the much~maligned
The Curse of the Black Spot failed to enter whilst
The Doctor, The Widow & The Wardrobe fared only slightly better, though it didn't even manage to accumulate
1% of the overall vote.
Fact fans also note that the
Comic Relief episodes,
Time and Space, received a few votes each whilst the
Doctor Who Confidential special Death Is The Only Answer, the Complete Sixth Series DVD exclusive
Night and The Doctor and the
Children In Need special, Nekkid Cutaway, all got one each (whilst the NTA scene got zero). Now, here's the Top 10....
10. THE REBEL FLESH/THE ALMOST PEOPLE
Holding up the back end (but managing to make the Ten nonetheless) is the Ganger two~parter. Matthew Graham's story didn't enter into
Blogtor's own Top 10 but found enough love from you guys and gals to gain
1.6% of the overall vote.
9. NIGHT TERRORS
8. CLOSING TIME
7. LET'S KILL HITLER
6. THE GOD COMPLEX
Splitting up the batch of SteeMo stories is Toby Whithouse's "Eighties" hotel of horrors. The shock ending was nowhere near as shocking as the reference to the Nimon. Or, indeed, the portrait of The Tritovore (look closely, it's there). Regardless it got 5.9%.
5. THE WEDDING OF RIVER SONG
The second series finale didn't thrill you lot as much the first one but it still did the job, being the third favourite SteeMo episode. The Doctor fooling the whole of time and space with a robot version of himself marrying a woman old/young enough to be his mother/daughter won 6.5% of the overall vote.
4. A GOOD MAN GOES TO WAR
Gaining a higher place here than in the
Blogtor Top 10 (where it was No. 7), the revelation of River Song's identity was well liked though, as you can see from the figures, some way behind the next entry with just
6.9%.
3. THE IMPOSSIBLE ASTRONAUT/DAY OF THE MOON
The Top 3 is really where the big hitters reside this year with a huge gap between these tales and the rest. And some of you may have noticed that the stories in the Top 3 are the same as the
Blogtor Top 3 (though in a slightly different order). This year's cramaze~balls opener managed
16% of the vote.
2. THE GIRL WHO WAITED
Just edging out the number three story (and by a very small margin) is the Amy Pond Double Up Conundrum with
17.3%. Here's what writer
Tom MacRae had to say when I told him the news:
The Girl Who Waited was my love letter to Doctor Who, and to Doctor Who fans. I stretched myself, more than I ever had on any script before, to write the best story I possibly, possibly could, because this is the best show in the universe, and we have the best fans on the planet, and only the best is good enough.
