The Zygons are back!

The BBC have announced that classic monsters the Zygons will be returning to Doctor Who for the 50th Anniversary Special - click on the image included for a bigger version.

As previously announced, the sixty minute 3D episode will star David Tennant, Matt Smith, Billie Piper, Jenna-Louise Coleman, John Hurt and Joanna Page. See pictures from the readthrough HERE.

The story is written by Steven Moffat and directed by Nick Hurran and will receive a limited worldwide cinema release.

The Zygons first appeared in the Tom Baker adventure Terror the Zyons back in 1975, which will be released on DVD for the first time later this year.

Recently Blogtor wrote an article for Den of Geek about classic monsters that should return to Doctor Who - read it HERE. Check out who makes the number one slot...

I hope that 'limited worldwide release' means that BBCA/BBC actually bothers to remember that there are more major cities in the United States than simply only New York City and Los Angeles...as they have tended to forget that fact so far in their publicity here the past few years.

"Terror of the Zygons" is my favorite Tom Baker story. I have been wanting their return for years, woo hoo. I can't wait to see what the interior of their ship looks like.

Is is just me… or does this look more like a naked Sontaran with boils than the malevolent foetus we love of old?

An hour?! They're never going to make it a good story in an hour, it NEEDS to be 90 minutes. Then it would be an acceptable length for cinemas. The Five Doctors was around that length, and that was in 1983! This is 2013! We deserve better! Moffat CAN write a 90 minute story, he's done 6 for Sherlock in the past

Anonymous (4:59pm): He can also write a sixty minute story - he's done bloody LOADS for Doctor Who in the past!

Did they take the Sontaran costume and glue barnacles on it? Because that's what the head looks like.
