Series 8 - "spiky relationship" for The Doctor and Clara

As filming on Doctor Who Series 8 has begun, some details have emerged regarding the new face of The Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, and his companion Clara, played by Jenna Coleman. According to The Mirror, The Twelfth Doctor (that's what we're calling him) and Clara will have a "spiky relationship" at the beginning of the series. The Mirror reports:
“As a new Time Lord you need all the friends you can get, but he even has to win over his companion. Clara grew very attached to Matt and that shows in the opening episodes. Peter’s Doctor has to get past a spiky opening and try to make Clara a sidekick who will help him save the world from the usual mix of aliens and monsters from the galaxy."
Episode One of Series 8 began filming this week and also saw the return of Madame Vastra, Jenny and Strax. It is written by Steven Moffat and directed by Ben Wheatley.

Ummm....you call him the 12th Doctor because he IS the 12th Doctor! LOL! No amount of nerd-fodder forced in by Moffat (for no real story reason it seems) changes the actual fact of history. There have been 12 Doctors including Peter Capaldi. All this nonsense about Ten's half-regen and the whole John "fill-in-for-Eccleston-because-Moff-is-too-lazy-to-rewrite" Hurt is about as relevant as Richard Hurdnall appearing as the First Doctor. That being: NOT AT ALL. ;)

Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Baker, Davison, C.Baker, McCoy, McGann, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, and Capaldi. You are only "The Doctor" if you take the time to actually play The Doctor over an era of the show. You have to put work and effort into it. No producer, no matter how egomaniacal, can arbitrarily add Doctors. Otherwise, anyone can. And let me tell you, there's a gap between Troughton and Pertwee's regen to be exploited. And I'm thinking Jason Statham needs to be shoved in there as the REAL 3rd Doctor. Right? I mean come on. We can all add Doctors, right? It "opens up new storytelling possibilities" to quote Moffat himself. ;p LOL!

Ridiculously convoluted nonsense. Welcome to Peter Capaldi as the 12th Doctor. :)

Sorry Ozzy, but all your fanboy whining doesn't change the fact there is a Doctor between McGann and Eccleston or that Tennant's meta-crises still used up a regeneration.

You're both right. There are 12 DOCTORS - as Mr Moff said himself. The Hurt Doctor was 'Doctor No More' - and the metacrisis Doctor was not a true Time Lord. Therefore there are indeed only 12 Doctors so far.

Ozzy there is already a doctor 2.5 as depicted by the fan film 'devious'. I think it counts as they actually got Pertwee to film the regeneration, in his last appearance ad the doctor.

@Mister: LOL! Sure. Just like McGann is "half-human", right? ;)

Ozzy: Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, Baker, Davison, Baker, McCoy, McGann, Hurt, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, Capaldi.

Just because it didn't happen in a way you like doesn't mean it didn't happen. It was a huge, crucial plot point in one of the biggest and most watched episodes of Doctor Who that ever has been - that makes John Hurt a fixed point in time, now.

No. Fan-produced stuff isn't canon. Only (in this case) BBC-made stuff is Canon (and possibly BF but that's endorsed by the BBC anyway!)

And I'm not sure I'd believe "The Mirror" anyway. He wouldn't be the first Doctor to have a 'spiky relationship' for a while, post-regen (Colin Baker anyone?) so it may just be a good guess.

@Rob W: Again, just like The Doctor is "half-human", right? Or that he can regen 500+ times? Etc, etc. ;) LOL! We'll see what happens in time...
