
The latest issue of
Doctor Who Magazine, out tomorrow, reveals some new names for
Doctor Who Series 8. Officially confirmed for writing duties are
Mark Gatiss (
The Unquiet Dead, Victory of the Daleks) and
Gareth Roberts (
The Lodger, The Unicorn & the Wasp) for Episodes 3 and 6 respectively for the new series starring Peter Capaldi as The Doctor. Directing both stories is
Paul Murphy (
Wizards Vs Aliens).
Guest stars for the Gatiss episode include:
Tom Riley (
St Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold),
Trevor Cooper (
Revelation of the Daleks),
Ian Hallard (
An Adventure In Space & Time) and
Roger Ashton-Griffiths (
Game of Thrones) amongst others. On his casting in the show, Riley tweeted:
The Roberts story features:
Nigel Betts (Emmerdale), and Jimmy Vee (Voyage of the Damned) amongst others. In other news, another new director for the show has emerged,
Paul Wilmshurst (
Strike Back, Da Vinci's Demons).
Doctor Who Series 8 airs later this year (starting late August/early September).
